Frequently Asked Questions
When will my portrait session take place?
I am available for portrait sessions Monday-Friday evenings as well as Saturdays and Sundays. Weekend availability is first come, first serve and is limited during wedding season. I typically schedule portrait sessions for early morning or evenings because that is when the best lighting is!
What should I wear?
Something that best represents YOUR style! You may change outfits if you would like to get two different looks into your session. Ladies- dresses are lovely, just make sure that you are comfortable posing in it both sitting down and standing. Also, heels are wonderful and you should definitely wear them if you would like to. My suggestion would be to bring a pair of flats to switch into for walking around. Gentlemen- please avoid any neon colored clothes and graphic tees. Jeans and a nice dress shirt, polo, or sweater would work perfectly! Families- when shopping for your outfit, start with one and build from there using colors and patterns from the first outfit. Layers are wonderful and are a great way to add pops of color! Try to avoid being too “matchy-matchy” & try using different shades of each color instead of matching each color dead on.
What should I bring?
If there are items that are of significance to you and you would like included in your photos, please bring them with! If you have props you made or want to bring, feel free to bring them along and we can incorporate them into your photos! If you have kids, please feel free to bring a cooler with drinks and snacks to keep them hydrated and energized through the session.
Do you travel?
Sure do! I love to travel- it’s nice to be able to experience different places and new locations! I am available for travel for both portrait sessions and weddings.
When is payment due?
For portrait sessions, 50% is due at time of booking as a retainer fee. The remaining 50% is due at time of session. For weddings and events, 50% is due at time of booking, and the remaining 50% is due 6 weeks before your wedding or event date. All deposits are non-refundable.
What forms of payment do you accept?
I accept cash, checks (written out to Tamara Jaros Photography), Chase Quick-Pay, as well as debit & credit cards. Please note there is a processing fee for paying with a card.
Do you have a studio?
I have an in-home studio in Elgin, IL (close to 90 & 25) available for use in emergency situations. Due to the size of my in-home studio, it is best suited for newborns & kids. Please keep in mind that the studio is smaller and is in my home- so I ask that clients please limit their photo session guests to immediate family which will be in the photos (mommy, daddy, brothers & sisters). Read more about the studio, HERE.
How soon should I book my newborn session?
The sooner the better! Newborn sessions typically take a little more time so I tend to book those on weekends. Newborn sessions are best done 5-10 days after your baby is born. When you know your due date, please get in touch with me to be sure we get you on my calendar!
When will I receive my images?
My turn-around time for portrait sessions is 1-2 weeks, weddings and larger events is 6-8 weeks. Be sure to check my Facebook page a day or two after your session or wedding- I always post “sneak peeks” to hold you over until you see your final collection of images.
Will I get high-resolution photos?
Yes! I include all edited, high-resolution images in all my packages for both portraits and weddings. For portraits, you will receive a download code to use in your online gallery to obtain your images. For weddings, a USB will include all your high-resolution photos. A digital and/or hard copy of a Copyright Release will be given for personal use.
Do you carry liability insurance?
I most certainly do. I’m more than happy to provide proof of insurance for your venue.
How do you select your second photographers?
I have a list of other photographers that I have worked with in the past that share the same passion and love for wedding photography that I do. I am part of an amazing network of talented, local photographers whom are more than qualified to assist me in photographing your wedding day.
What equipment do you use?
I have professional Nikon cameras and lenses that I use for all portrait sessions and weddings. For weddings, I have professional flashes and lighting equipment for receptions. I always carry a back-up camera with me to both portrait sessions and weddings.
